Good morning Mansfield staff and students:
Welcome to the fourth day of Respect Week! We are here to talk more about respect. A simple definition of respect is said perfectly within a simple saying, “The Golden Rule.” The Golden Rule states: do unto others as you would have them do unto you. In a nutshell, that means to treat other people the way you want to be treated.
Respect can be shown to others during all opportunities throughout your day. You can show respect to your teacher by listening to his or her lesson in class. You can show respect to your friends by being nice and using kind words. You can show respect by following directions and making good choices in the cafeteria at lunch time. You can show respect to your family by doing your chores without being reminded. There are so many opportunities throughout your day to show respect to many different people.
Just like happiness, respect is contagious. That means if you are respected or see other people being respectful, then you start doing the same thing. When you hurt someone or watch someone being hurt without helping, you are not being respectful. If we work together and help our fellow classmates when they need it, we can stop the students who choose to be hurtful towards others!!
Have a great day and be respectful!
